Can Rich Solar Panel Kits Be Expanded For More Watts And Amperage?
Great question George, the Rich Solar 100w panel kit # RS27VR has a controller rated for 20A which is about double what the 100w panel needs, so you can add another 100w panel for a total of 200w and still use the included controller without an issue. One customer, Aaron in Georgia, started with the RS27VR on his tear trailer and added a second 100W panel the following year when he installed a 12V fridge and upgraded to two 100Ah AGMs. If you decide to go this route, you can use # RS77VR...

Do I Need Full Rich Solar Kit If My RV Is Prewired With Solar On The Side Port?
Great question, Jeff! If your trailer has a “Solar on the Side” port (typically SAE or Furrion), you still need a full solar kit like # RS27VR or # RS67VR, which include a controller. The solar prepped trailers just have a port that leads to the trailer's battery, but it still needs the panel, wiring, and charge controller as these kits include.

Can Rich Solar RS35FR Portable Solar Panel Connect Directly To Trailer's Prewired Solar Port?
Hey Nathaniel, the Rich Solar Mega 250 Solar Panel - 12V - 250 Watts # RS35FR has mc4 connectors which usually run to a charge controller, which would then connect to the prewired solar port on your trailer. If you don't have that yet, I would just go with a complete kit like # RS37VR which includes a controller and everything necessary for your trailer to get the solar power it desires. What kind of trailer do you have?

Many overlanders, like Lydia in Utah, run their Starlink router and Dometic fridge off this setup with a 100Ah LiFePO4 battery and stay charged all day. We recommend monitoring usage with a Bluetooth battery monitor for best results. If you want to add 2 of these panels, you can use this splitter MC4 Y-Adapter Parallel Cables for Redarc Solar Panels # RED78VR to plug them into a controller together.
